Finding Your Navigator through COVID-19

As we navigate this new normal (BlueFire HR included), we find ourselves balancing ever-changing laws, employee relations issues, and above all, keeping nerves calm. Regardless if you are an executive, a CEO, an HR leader, a parent, or anyone just there for everyone else, this is an overwhelming time. None of us have ever seen anything like this. No other natural disaster, recession, or health concern has asked as much of us as these unprecedented times.

Companies of all sizes are experiencing many challenges. This is an overwhelming time. Everyone is fielding a myriad of questions from general HR operations to anything COVID-19 related. The keyword in our profession is “human,” and nearly everything happening right now comes down to a very human level.

“Even if we contain the COVID-19 crisis within a few months, the legacy of this pandemic will live with us for years, perhaps even decades, to come. It will change the way we move, build, learn, and connect. There is simply no way that our lives will resume as if it never happened.”

~Aisha S. Ahmad, March 27, 2020, The Chronicle of Higher Education.

We are charting new work territory and finding ourselves forced to think differently in the way we maneuver through the current environment. It may be the first time a CEO has allowed her administrative staff or non-essential staff to work remotely. There is a new relevance to focusing on how to keep staff safe. We are all questioning the way we assist employees, provide personal protective equipment (PPE), understand their troubles, and new working situations. Finally, and hopefully not often, supporting them through illness, loss, and grief counseling. This is something none of us expected, but we are now their resource and must be willing and able to help.

This situation is forcing each of us to be there for everyone, but who can company executives and HR professionals turn to for their support? BlueFire HR provides this support for our clients and partners in a variety of ways. We craft and execute responses for the transition to remote working. We assist our partners in letting go of fears and shifting paradigms. We help build trust between management and employees. We help business leaders support staff that might be impacted by the potential leaves with the right documentation, relational support, and understanding the new laws. We are here to address the few individuals that will take advantage of the situation and take unneeded or unwarranted leave. The reality is that it happens, and we can help. In short, we are your sounding board, advice resource, and execution specialist while you focus on ensuring your business has better tomorrows.

All of us are pushing forward through this crisis, finding new ways to support each other, and simply evaluating and approaching life differently. COVID-19 has forced us to think and act differently. During this, everyone needs a connection and a team to lean on. Whether it is online learning platforms, executive coaching needs, staffing for those who have left, or someone to manage aspects of HR to include managing the myriad of leaves of absences (LOA), and unemployment responses – BlueFire HR is an extension of your team. You can lean on us.
